Staging is where design meets Real Estate. It's the art of turning a home into a house, and a house, into a marketable product. A home is usually very personal to the current homeowner, but staging is a statistically proven method of turning a personal home into a house that becomes a product that will appeal to all potential buyers. Think about model homes; they are beautifully decorated, but they are not personal in any way-no family photos, collections, or too specific in design style. They want everyone who walks through the front door to be able to picture their own family living there. The same principals hold true when staging your property for sale. You don't want potential buyers to be distracted by your stuff or style, rather than the house itself. You don't want them to leave knowing everything about you, and remembering nothing about the house itself. The house should always be the star!  The square footage must be maximized and good traffic flow is essential. Buyers need to see that there will be plenty of room for their own furnishings. If a home feels dated, overcrowded and/or cluttered, they won't be able to imagine themselves moving in. More often than not, it is difficult for a homeowner to be objective when they think about how others will perceive their home. Depersonalizing and neutralizing a home becomes essential when it's time to put it on the market. The way you would normally live in your home, will probably be different than when it comes to listing your home for sale. Some homes are too personal and some homes lack personality. The goal of staging is striking the perfect balance! You want the buyer to be able to make their own emotional connection when they walk through the front door.
